Do the women of the Bandhwari village receive the proceeds?

 

Our goal is to ensure that the Bandhwari women do not incur any risk due to this project. Because of this, we buy the products from them before we make any sales. Once we have made a sale, 50% of profits are directly sent back to the ladies of the village. The other 50% is saved for the next product order or otherwise reinvested in the project.

What is the point of the Bandhwari Women’s Project?

We want to improve the economic status of these women and help them achieve financial independence. This is vital so they’re capable of funding for their children’s education, sanitation improvements, healthcare, and other necessities for a basic living.

Where is the Bandhwari village located?

The village is located 18 kms from New Delhi in Gurgaon, Haryana. It holds a population of about 4,000 people with just 650 homes available for residents.

What issues do the Bandhwari women face?

These women often lack an education and the ability of securing a stable income. The Bandhwari Project ensures them a respectable livelihood as they stray away from the common patriarchal social expectations. Also, surrounding urbanization has subjected many of these women to work in servile positions, the Bandhwari Project places them in more optimistic work environments.
